Introducing Beno: Remuera's Benson Road Deli Has New Owners, a New Menu and a New Name
After two decades as Benson Road Deli, this Remuera institution has undergone a makeover.
If you've lived and worked in Remuera in the last 20 years, you would've heard of Benson Road Deli. The cafe was a busy gathering place for mums and bubs, thirsty dog walkers, and groups of friends meeting for brunch or an after-dinner drink.
The beloved establishment has undergone a few changes in the last couple of months, with the neighbourhood saying goodbye to Benson Road Deli and hello to Beno.
The Remuera cafe has recently gained new owners, who have been working hard to give the cafe a makeover while still sticking with the laid-back social vibe that the original Benson Road Deli accumulated over the past two decades.
Everything has had a bit of a refresh, from the cafe's name to its long-standing menu. The new owners — who are Remuera locals themselves — have employed the help of hospitality expert Oranna Blanke. Blanke was at the helm of Olaf's in Mount Eden for 13 years, steering the bakery and cafe throughout the pandemic and everything that came with it.
Blanke has brought along her own team of hospitality superstars, including Head Chef Peter Ho of Hobsonville Point cafe Midpoint, who has created a brand-new menu offering at Beno. As well as the dine-in menu, cabinet food and pastries will make up the full food offerings. The cafe also has a liquor licence for those seeking an afternoon tipple at the new version of their old favourite neighbourhood local.
Of course, no cafe is complete without coffee. The talented Beno baristas are using Kiwi brand Kōkako in all of their caffeinated beverages, with the cafe only a small distance away from the coffee brand's original headquarters in Parnell.
Find Beno at 120 Upland Road, Remuera, Auckland — open from 7am, seven days a week.
