Manis Bakery and Cafe
Hit up Ponsonby's newest patisserie for your morning coffee and croissant combo.
There seems to be an influx of bakeries opening around Tāmaki Makaurau lately — not that we're complaining — but Ponsonby's latest opening has zoomed to the top of our list. Manis is the new cute-as-a-button bakery that has just opened on Ponsonby Road, and already has locals fizzing about its lineup of delicious pastries and breads.
If you're looking for a post-lunch sweet treat this should be your first stop — think cookies and cream doughnuts, pistachio croissants and macadamia caramel danishes.
They are also one of the only bakeries in the city sling in authentic Martabak of both sweet and savoury varieties. This delicious Indonesian pancake usually sells out, so keep up to date on Manis' Instagram with its drop days if that's a bit of you.
Of course, no pastry goes down properly without a good coffee and here they're brewing up the good stuff, using Orakei roastery Espresso Workshop for their brews. The best part? All coffees are two-for-one this month — so get in before January is out to score yourself a free oat flattie (and use the extra dosh to buy a croissant or two).
