The Old Fitzroy Hotel
A classic Old English feel, a toasty fireplace and charming regulars meet fancy French feeds and natty wines at this Woolloomooloo pub.
A Dowling Street stalwart, Woolloomooloo's Old Fitz has undergone many a transformation over the past decade, but it's still an old pub at heart.
The one thing that remains consistent is the familiar yet elusive je ne sais quoi of any great pub: You always feel like you've made a good choice as soon as you step your feet on that carpet, perch your elbows on the bar and have a tap beer mid-pour.
This beloved Sydney pub has really stepped it up when it comes to the food offerings as well. The menu at Bistro Fitz overseen by Head Chef John Hockey (under the direction of the Odd Culture Group's executive chef James MacDonald) sees classic French bistro and Old English pub influences seamlessly combine.
Whether you're just after a lengthy session of beers on the sunny sidewalk or pursuing a more elevated pub dining experience, you can find it at the Old Fitz.
